Extra Curricular

Morrinsville School operates a strong outdoor education programme.

The junior school (Yrs 1-2) have an annual trip to the beach or zoo.

Every year our Yr 4 visit the Pukemokemoke Reserve and the Yr 6 tamariki spend a day at Waimarino Adventure Park on the first Friday of December.

Yr 3 visit Waharau Regional Park and stay at Waharau Camp for 3 days in October.  Activities include the Miranda Shorebird Centre,  Tapapakanga Regional Park, rocky shore study and Te Aroha Hot pools.

Yr 4 stay at a Marae in Waitomo for 4 days in November enjoying caving, abseiling, fossil hunting, bush walks, glowworm walks and visiting the Waitomo Museum.

Yrs 5 & 6  stay at Port Waikato Camp for 6 days.  Activities include sand dune hike, Devlin’s Dash hike, camp cooking fossiling tent pitching, stream study, caving, BMX, mud fight, abseiling, camp out, swimming in rock pools, climbing wall, disco, obstacle course, eeling, waterfall walk, low ropes, spotlight, burma trail and a camp concert.

Yrs 7 & 8 Whitianga Leadership Camp visit Hot Water Beach, the 309 waterhole, Coraglen River, Historic Whitianga Rock Māori Pā site, Flaxmill Bay to snorkel, hike up Shakeseare Cliff, pick pipi on Buffalo Beach while enjoying pipi fritters and fried bread.

Yrs 7 & 8 have a biannual camp at Mount Ruapehu.  Activities include skiing, snow boarding, trekking and a visit to the hot pools.
